"A Brilliant Plan" now available on INKITT.com

Someone pointed me to the Midsummer Mystery Contest writing competition on the storyteller platform INKITT.com and suggested that I submitted my novel “A Brilliant Plan". And I did, of course. I had it previously published as sort of a test balloon on the story platform Wattpad.com with great success. I never had received so many comments, likes and suggestions than anywhere else. I had over 190.000 chapters read on Wattpad, that’s around 4000 readers! I love it.

If you haven’t read “A Brilliant Plan”, do so! One of my first full length novels in the crime mystery genre, it still holds up pretty well. Well, I must say that, as I am the author. But almost ten years and over ten full-length novels later, it still holds a special place in my heart. It was the first book that I wrote, which story-wise shaped up the way I wanted it. In earlier attempts on other stories, I felt that I lacked the voice and the intensity to make a story work over 300+ pages. “A Brilliant Plan” changed that.

UPDATE Jan 3 2021: You maybe noticed, a lot of stuff has happened since this post from April. COVID Trouble took priority. The Transport completion took priority. And my new project, the Audiobook Podcast Version of The Transport, took priority. The remaining 79066 words of Brilliant #3 might come. But then, maybe not.

Chapter One, Word One. Thirty minutes later 934 words down. 79066 words to go. No pressure.

Strange times, folks. In the middle of a global crisis, I managed to ready my next book. Five Troubleshooter Novellas that collected over the last years. Out now on Amazon and Smashwords.com as eBook and paperback. In the coming days also on other ebook platforms.

Very similar to my Pieces of Trouble novellas collection from a few years back. I had creative time on my hands during the re-re-re-work of my current science fiction novel “The Transport” that does not find an end. But I had all these small-ish Troubleshooter stories around on my disk drive, calling out to me, “finish us, finish us”. Who couldn’t resist that call?

The Year So Fast / Upcoming

2018 is almost over and 2019 knocks at my door. I managed to publish my usual two books, the German version of Teen Monster Hunters and the English follow-up Teen Vampire Hunters. Which is good, I guess. Sales-wise the monthly checks came in from my various publishing platforms, but definitely not with the numbers I’d like to see. It remains an inner struggle to spend time with non-writing activities. Maybe I should heed a friend’s advice and hire someone to run social campaigns to extend my readership.

The second route in 2019 will be the conventional publisher route. I have 11 full size books under my belt, have the basic handiwork of a writer, and the discipline to deliver on time. My current project is aimed at a broader thriller scifi horror audience and hopefully an agent or publishing house will be interested.

On a personal level, there are also big changes ahead. I am switching jobs, leaving behind a lot of very nice colleagues. The new job is a bit cloak and dagger, so I will not elaborate. I might need to establish a sort of topical firewall to separate truth from believable fiction when writing crime and spy stories.

And so it goes… 2018. Thanks for the memories. Good riddance to lost opportunities. 2019, it’s in my hands to do it better.
